    ACADEMIC ASSOCIATE
    Essential Qualifications:
    1) A post-graduate in journalism &Mass Communication/Master’s Degree.
    OR  
    Graduate in any subject with PGD in Journalism/AD&PR/RTV 
    OR 
    2)  More than 10 years of experience in media industry or teaching at a senior level.
    Experience:
    For candidates with Essential Qualifications at (1) above
    Four Years of Working Experience in reputed news media/advertising & PR agency or teaching/media research/good quality publications.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    Preference will be given to NET-UGC qualified or M.Phil/Ph. D in Mass Communication or related subjects
    Job Descriptions:
    – Assist the concerned course director in smooth day to day functioning of academic programme of the department.
    – Help in managing the training and teaching of the concerned department.
    – Interact and guide students in academic and professional matters
    – Assist the course director in industry interface for internship for students
    – Any other assignment given by the course director including administrative interface with different facility providers of the Institute.
    ACADEMIC ASSISTANTS
    Essential Qualifications
    Graduate in any subject with PGD in Journalism/AD&PR/RTV
    Experience
    Minimum two years of working experience in a reputed news media/advertising & PR agency or teaching/media research/good quality publications.
    Job Descriptions
    – Assist the concerned course director in smooth day to day functioning of academic programme   of the department.
    – Help in managing the training and teaching of the concerned department.
    – Ability to evaluate assignments in academic and professional matters.
    – Interact and guide students in academic and professional matters.
    – Any other assignment given by the course director including administrative interface with different facility providers of the Institute.
    Remuneration:
    Rs.15,000/- per month or Rs.18,000/- according to level of qualifications/experience.
    Rs.22,000/- in case of candidate who are highly qualified/experienced
    The remuneration will be decided by the Selection Committee headed by Director General during/after interview.
    Tenure:
    One year (Further extendable based on performance review and requirements of the Institute.

  • J&K govt identifies land for IIMC in Jammu

    JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday identified land for establishing a branch of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) here.
    Chairing the Jammu District Development Board meeting here, chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday approved 88 kanals (1.1 Acres) land for the purpose.
    Minister for Higher Education Abdul Ghani Malik told PTI, “After preparing detailed project report, the Government will approach Union Government for releasing funds.
    “New academic session will be arranged in rented accommodation in Jammu till the construction of the building is completed. The issue of classes would come in the meeting tomorrow,” he said.
    Applications for 15 seats of the course in the state branch stand advertised by IIMC New Delhi and classes are scheduled to start in the last week of July.
    IIMC has approved four new regional centres — Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Mizoram and Maharashtra. The Institute presently has branches in New Delhi and Dhenkanal in Orissa.
