    Job profile:
    In your role as Communications Manager at Janaagraha you will support communications strategy for all programs and projects at Janaagraha, with primary responsibility to deliver on the goals of the Jaagte Raho! campaign.

    Responsiblities:

    The Communications Manager will deliver on the following:

    Communications Strategy:

    * Ensure that a communications strategy for the Jaagte Raho! campaign is in place, so that the campaign objectives are met.
    * Develop the campaign communications plan to include dates/ goals/measures.

    Media Relations and Planning:

    * Manage strategic communications for the campaign, and develop a robust media plan.
    * Integrate a strong online strategy into the media mix to meet campaign objectives.
    * Ensure clarity and consistency of messages in development of all communication material.
    * Develop a media relations strategy to manage the campaign identity and raise its profile.

    PR and Marketing:

    * Proactively spread the word on Jaagte Raho! and its core message to various stakeholders – citizens, corporate, academic institutions etc., and solicit their participation.
    * Build a critical mass of supporters/followers for Jaagte Raho! especially online traffic.

    Partner Management:

    * Work with partners, vendors and service providers – creative agency, creative consultants, copywriters, filmmakers, and printing vendors – to ensure communication requirements of the campaign are met in a timely and professional manner.

    Educational qualification: Preferably Masters in Mass Communications/ MBA degree in Marketing

    Analyst Development Program
     
    STRATFOR’s Analyst Development Program is a fundamental part of the company. It is through this program that STRATFOR recruits and hires analysts for its strategic and tactical analysis. It is a substantive, fast-paced and intensive four-month program which vets applicants for potential employment within the various analyst positions at STRATFOR.
     
    Applicants are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and interests, including world affairs, global trade, economics, technological innovation, engineering, military strategy and/or tactical analysis. STRATFOR encourages applicants of diverse educational and professional backgrounds. In addition to U.S. applicants, we are also accepting non-U.S. recruits, especially those who would be interested in continuing their relationship with STRATFOR from their country of residence.
     
    STRATFOR also is looking specifically for tactical analysts — those who are more focused on the nuts and bolts of how things happen, not necessarily why and what next. (For an in-depth description of our philosophy, please read this report: Counterterrorism: Shifting from ‘Who’ to ‘How’)
     
    These individuals are expected to have a broad understanding of how specific systems work — criminal, financial, mechanical, technological (especially in the fields of robotics, cyber-warfare/security and battery/storage technologies), and so forth. Tactical analysts will be expected to become proficient at a number of specific topics through their own and assisted research. They should be detail-oriented and have a mind for forensics. Persons with a practical background in military, law enforcement, medical professions, engineering and finance are encouraged to apply.
     
    The four-month analyst development program is unpaid. Travel and living stipends are available, both for U.S. and international applicants. The recruits will be expected to come to Austin, Texas, for four months and work between 20-40 hours a week, depending on schedule and ability. (International applicants will not be expected to stay in Austin for more than three months due to U.S. business visa restrictions).

  • SAJA Scholarships 2010 — Deadline: March 10

    SAJA is offering $10,500 in scholarships this year to help students pursue careers in journalism.

    If you’re a high school senior about to enter college, an undergraduate, or a student starting or continuing your graduate studies, and you’re pursuing a journalism career, here’s your chance to get help with your educational expenses.

    1. One $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior about to enter college;
    2. One $1,000 SAJA Engendered scholarship to an undergraduate college student writing on issues related to gender and sexuality (four-year or community college);
    3. One $1,500 scholarship to an undergraduate college student (four-yearor community college);
    4. One $1,000 SAJA Engendered scholarship to a graduate-level student writing on issues related togender and sexuality (four-year or community college);
    5. Two $2,000 scholarships each to graduate-level students;
    6. The CNN-SAJA Scholarship for Broadcast Journalism $2,000, for an undergraduate or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in broadcast journalism.

    These annual monetary awards recognize the reporting abilities and commitment of emerging journalists. Students from across the United States, Canada and South Asia can apply for the awards. The judging will be conducted by SAJA professional members.

    Applicants with financial hardship may be given special consideration. Recipients are expected to give back to SAJA by volunteering at the annual convention or at other events during the year. They also must provide an update of their journalist endeavors and achievements at the conclusion of the academic year.

    ELIGIBILITY:
    Applicants must be:

    1. of South Asian descent (includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal,Pakistan and Sri Lanka; Indo-Caribbeans are also eligible) OR demonstrate an interest in South Asia or the Diaspora
    2. serious about pursuing journalism as a career and provide evidence they planto through courses, internships or freelancing
    3. one of the following: a high school senior about to enroll in an accredited college or university in North America; a current student in an accredited college or university (two-year or four-year) in North America; or a student enrolled or about to enter a graduate-level program in North America.

    Note: College or graduate students graduating in May/June 2010 are eligible. Immediate relatives of SAJA Board members and judges are INELIGIBLE to apply.

    EVALUATION PROCEDURE:
    A committee of judges appointed by the Board of SAJA will review the applications and evaluate them on a number of subjective and objective criteria, including interest in journalism, writing skills, reasons for entering journalism, financial need and participation and enthusiasm in SAJA.

    DEADLINE:
    Applications must be submitted using the online form below by 11:59 p.m.(Pacific time), Wednesday March 10, 2010. Applicants may be interviewed by phone or in person by a member of the scholarship committee. Winners will be notified in late March and will be honored at annual awards dinner to be heldin the summer of 2010 (date TBA).
