  • MoM | Bihar Chapter Meeting | 18 June, 2015

    Dear IIMCians,
    The Bihar Chapter of IIMC Alumni Association met at Akashvani, Patna on June 18. President Mr. Bhola Nath presided over the meeting that was attended by Vice President Mr. KK Lal & General Secretary Mr. Alok Gupta. Alumni Mr. Aditya Kumar, Mr. Satyavrat Mishra, Ms. Banjot Kaur, Ms. Iti Sharan, Ms. Niky Tiwari, Mr. Saqib Khan, Mr. Abhimanyu Kumar Saha & Mr. Ved Prakash also attended the meeting. 
    The Chapter bid farewell to founding General Secretary Mr. Alok Gupta who is moving to HongKong this week. Members also celebrated the birthday of Mr. Abhimanyu Saha.
    Minutes of the Meeting:-
    1. Keeping in view the large number of vacant posts, it was decided to select new members to fill the posts. New appointments are as follows:-
    Mr. Saqib Khan– General Secretary
    Mr. Abhimanyu Kumar Saha– Organisation Secretary
    Ms. Banjot Kaur– Secretary
    Mr. Ved Prakash– PRO & Communication Secretary
    2. With the new committee members at the helm of affairs, Mr. Bhola Nath and Mr. KK Lal suggested that focus should be on at least one meeting per month.
    3. All IIMCAA members who have written investigative pieces and believe them to be useful, may share the same on the State Chapter page of IIMC on FB.
    4. IIMCAA Bihar Chapter will prepare a database of alumni who are working in various fields such as civil service.

President Ms. Sunila Dhar presided over the meeting that was attended by Vice President Mr. Prasad Sanyal, Mr. Arunoday Prakash, General Secretary Mr. Rahul Sharma, Organisation Secretaries Mr. Harshendra Verdhan, Secretaries Mr. Amit Kanaujia, Ms. Kamini Patil, Ms. Deeksha Saksena, Executive Members Mr. Animesh Biswas, Mr. Sachin Dixit, Mr. Pratham Dwivedi, Mr. Utkarsh Chaturvedi, Ms. Ipsita Panda, Ms. Richa Banka, Ms. Aanchal Sharma & General Secretary of Rajasthan Chapter Ms. Sonam Saini. Alumni Mr. Pravin Yadav, Mr. Ritesh Verma, Mr. Arpan Roy, Mr. Peeyush Jain also attended the meeting.
    Minutes of the Meeting:-
    1. Inaugural Let's Talk to take place in November. Exact date, sessions, topic and other related things would be decided later. CC decided to dedicate it to the Golden Jubilee Year of IIMC.
    2. CC has  decided to adopt a Social Cause of The Year. The cause would be chosen after conducting an online survey amongst alumni. CC would identify a credible NGO working for the cause and extend its digital & event space to promote it . 
    3. No final call has yet been taken on the Editions of Connections 2016.

    The Central Committee of IIMC Alumni Association met at IIMC HQ, New Delhi on May 10. Executive President Mr. Apurva Chamaria presided over the meeting that was attended by General Secretary Mr. Rahul Sharma, Organisation Secretaries Mr. Harshendra, Mr. Krishna Pophale, Treasurer Mr. Gaurav Dikshit, Secretaries Mr. Amit Kanaujia, Ms. Sugam Singhal, Ms. Kamini Patil, Ms. Deeksha Saksena, Executive Members Mr. Pratham Dwivedi, Ms. Arpita Kedia, Ms. Pragya Swastik. Alumni Mr. Ritesh Verma, Mr. Avinash Kumar, Mr. Arpan Roy, Mr. Akash Priyan & Mr. Amit Rajpoot also attended the meeting.

    Minutes of the Meeting:-
    1. The Central Committee expressed happiness over successful launch of Connections Bubhneshwar and Mumbai edition this year. The Central Committee congratulated Odisha and Maharashtra chapter for hosting a fabulous meet.
    2. The Central Committee is of the view that more editions of Connections in different cities across the country shall be launched from next year in addition to Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Mumbai. CC will consult all the chapters within the country over the matter. CC will extend all possible assistance to chapters willing to host Connections next year.
    3. The Central Committee brainstormed the model of Lets Talk. A concept note prepared by General Secretary Mr. Rahul Sharma is being circulated to CC Members to review and suggest the changes in the proposed model. CC will take up the matter in the next meeting for final decision.
    4. The CC has received a proposal to adopt a Social Cause of the Year from Organisation Secretary (East) Mr. Rai Umraopati Ray. It is being circulated to the CC Members to review and suggest the way ahead. CC will take up this issue in its next meeting..
    5. The Central Committee sanctioned NewsWriters (www.newswriters.in) the status of Associated Website. This site provides  study material to journalism students. IIMCAA will support this site digitally to help it to reach the budding journalists.

  • The Tim Hetherington Grant | Visual Journalist | LD- 31 October

    The Tim Hetherington Grant is an annual 20,000 euro grant awarded to a visual journalist to finalize an ongoing project on a human rights theme. 
    All professional photographers and filmmakers are now invited to apply until 31 October. For more information, please read the declaration & entry rules. 
    The grant celebrates the legacy of photojournalist and filmmaker Tim Hetherington, who was killed when a group of journalists came under fire during fighting between rebels and General Gaddafi’s forces in Misrata, Libya in April 2011. Tim Hetherington was committed to finding new ways to tell compelling stories about politics, conflict and the human experience, and to relay these stories to a wide audience.

    IMP Instructions:-
    1. Alumni registered as Voters will be eligible to participate in elections only.
    2. Undersigned or Mr. Raghuvinder Chawla, Election Officer shall receive Nominations.
    3. President, General Secretary & Treasurer nominee of the respective panel are required to attend the nomination proceedings.
    4. Nomination Form should be addressed to the undersigned jointly signed by President, General Secretary, Treasurer nominee and Proposers of the panel.
    5. Panels should submit Name, Department, Campus, Batch, Email Address and Mobile Numbers of all members of the panel as an enclosure.
    6. Panel strength must not be less than 11 and more than 55.

    For its central programming hub, Microsoft is looking for a candidate with 6-8 years of photo journalism experience to be part of an operation which will manage and produce slideshows for all its markets globally. These slideshows or picture stories will be showcased on Microsoft’s media website (www.msn.com) and apps across all devices and platforms. This is a unique opportunity for a high energy and enterprising person who is ready to lead a team that’s innovating in the field of consumer content.

     

    This person will be required to work with a team of managing editors and photo editors across Microsoft’s markets globally handling various genres to plan and coordinate an extremely high quality of picture-led programming to engage and delight users, as well as support a variety of business objectives. Ability and experience to plan ahead, coordinate with teams across various time zones and implement audience-focused photo-led content initiatives are key attributes of this role.     Daily tasks

    • Detailed planning of content across major events and set pieces

    • Coordinate the production and delivery of daily slideshows across verticals

    • Maintain and update a detailed centralised editorial calendar

    • Inform international markets of content coming down the pipeline

    • Manage the team producing slideshows – both for planned and Breaking News scenarios

    • Gather KPI reports, share insights, seek feedback and develop best practice

     

    Key skills, experience and education

    • 6-8 years of experience in planning and coordination of major events

    • Experience of handling photo media, generating slideshow ideas and augmenting captions

    • Experience in managing and motivated highly efficient teams

    • Working knowledge of online publishing tools and content management systems

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Uzbekistan Chapter | Alimov President & Makhsimova General Secretary

    Dear IIMCians,

     

    Uzbekistan Chapter of IIMC Alumni Association met on September 20 at Al-Aziz Café, Tashkent. It was presided over by Mr. Beruni S. Alimov and attended by Ahmadjon Kasimov (1994), Amirkul Karimov (1994), Fahriddin Nizamov (1994), Uktam Mirzayorov (1994), Anvar Karimov (1999), Halim Saidov (1994) and  Fotimakhon Makhsimova (2014). Nazira Tashpulatova was guest at the meeting.

     

    Minutes of the Meeting:-

    1. Celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first graduates from the IIMC in Uzbekistan.

    2. Creation of the chapter of the IIMC Alumni Association in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

    3. Meeting unanimously elected Mr. Beruniy S. Alimov as President of IIMC Alumni Association- Uzbekistan Chapter.

    4. President Mr. Alimov expressed gratitude to the participants for taking part in this event.

    5. Souvenirs of IIMC Alumni Meet Connections 2014 were distributed to participants.

    6. Participants of the meeting showed a great interest in such books as “Meri awvaz suno”, “Hindi Cinema Ke 150 Sitare” and “Qamar Dard: Karan Aur Bachav” by Mr. Vinod Viplav, and “Mugal-e-Aazam” by Ms. Sushila Kumari.

    7. Mr. Alimov also informed participants about recent activities taken by IIMC Alumni in India.

    8. Mr. Alimov made a presentation of the new book “Social Media in Business and Governance” written by IIMC Senior Prof. K.M. Shrivastava who is also the mentor of IIMC regional centres.

    9. During the meeting alumni discussed a variety of issues, including creative and professional exchange of views on journalism in Uzbekistan and in whole World.

    10. It was decided to rename the former IIMCians club called “33 +” to the IIMC Alumni Association, Uzbekistan Chapter

    11. To have meeting once in 6 months with all Alumni of the IIMC from Uzbekistan.

    12. To make a plan to visit IIMC by Uzbek Chapter Members and to take a part in the one of the General meetings of IIMC Alumni Association in the future.
