  • IIMC alumnus injured in Mumbai terror attack

Sourav Mishra, a Reuters reporter, was with friends at the Cafe Leopold (in South Mumbai) when gunmen opened fire around 9:30 p.m. He has received injuries and is in St. George's Hospital.

"I heard some gunshots around 9:30. I was with my friends. Something hit me. I ran away and fell on the road. Then somebody picked me up. I have injuries below my shoulder," Mishra said from a hospital bed he was sharing with three other people.  (Source: Reuters News)

UPDATE: Sourav is from the 2002-03 English Journalism batch of IIMC, Dhenkanal. I spoke to him this morning. The doctors have removed the bullet and he is out of danger. Friends are with him and they are thinking of shifting him to another hospital in Navi Mumbai.

He is rechable over phone, but let's not bother him at this moment. Anyone concerned about his condition can call Abhishek Shanker (09920318300) or me (09818786430) for updates. I am based in Delhi, but in regular touch with our friends attending him. Let's pray for his speedy recovery.

  • ROARR ’08, THE IIMC FEST

The fest was a huge success! Those who missed it really missed a lot. The success  was the result of a lot of hard work, togetherness and love for the institute. Most of the current batch students put in their 200% to make this dream of ours a reality. We've been trying to organize this fest for the past two months; it's so hard to believe it is over.

A very big thank you to all the faculty and staff members for cooperating with us. All the alumni who visited us, I hope you've had a good time. I hope that this tradition of IIMC fest that we've started is followed by our successors, and we get to see ROARR reach a greater height when we come back as alumni next year.

For photos and news on the fest, please keep an eye on Delhi Times. There is an article in the Nov 25 edition already.

  • database of all the IIMC, DKL

    Hi,
We are trying to make a database of all the IIMCDKL pass-outs working in Delhi. This is the first step towards finalizing a website for the group.
It would be very nice of you if yo can give the following details: data collection has five parametres – name/ year of passing/ current place of working/ mobile/ contact number/ and email id.

Again, if you can provide the email ids of the people u know who are from IIMCDKL and are currently based in New Delhi, it would be a tremendous help.

    Thanks and regards,

PS: To see the development so far and chek if your name is there in the members, plz visit the following link

  • ROARR… The proposed IIMC fest

Does the IIMC alumni know that an IIMC Festival is going to take place
this year? This is in substitution of the EJ Fest which happens every
year. ROARR- Speak out, Get loud- is the name of this Fest. It has
been planned on a large scale, where other colleges from Delhi and
outside will be invited to participate.

The Fest is going to take place for two days- 25th and 26th November
this year. The current students are working towards procuring
sponsorships, planning out th events, etc. A Core Committee and an
Organising Committee have been formed to organise the Fest. The
student volunteers have been divided according to their jobs into
various departments like Event Administration, Security, Hospitality,
    etc.

We are eagerly waiting towards materialising this dream of ours. Any
help or suggestion is most welcome.

  • Re: Climate Change Journalism Fellowships; Deadline October 13

The Climate Change Media Partnership is pleased to invite journalists to apply for a climate change fellowship.

Fellows will attend the UN climate change summit held in Poznan, Poland from 1–12 December 2008 and produce journalism of an excellent standard that will highlight climate change issues within their regions and to an international audience.

This is an exciting opportunity for editors to gain coverage of the summit through their staff reporters. It is also an exciting opportunity for the journalists selected to enhance their knowledge of environmental issues with the support of the Climate Change Media Partnership, and to develop their professional journalism skills through the media activities offered during the summit.

The deadline for applications is Monday 13 October. An international panel will select the fellows and successful applicants will be notified by 31 October.
