Amnesty International India is looking for a media professional/journalist to develop media strategies and plans to help achieve its campaign objectives.

The role would involve communicating Amnesty’s campaigns and projects to English, Hindi and regional media, and effectively contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to establish a sustained campaign presence across a range of media outlets.

Candidate profile

* Support for and belief in the aims of Amnesty International
* Experience in developing and implementing media campaign strategies
* Strong news sense
* Ability to write press releases within a short time span, strong editing skills and a flair for writing
* Potential to be a spokesperson for the organisation
* Knowledge of media operations and editorial policy
* Fluency in written and spoken English and/or Hindi. Knowledge of another Indian language would be preferred.
* A good network of contacts in print and electronic media, including at the level of Editors

Responsibilities

* Develop an understanding of campaign issues and build a robust media strategy for Amnesty International India’s campaign and projects.
* Promote research and documentation carried out by Amnesty International India, and develop a strong proactive media strategy.
* Develop a strong response strategy to showcase Amnesty International India’s role as a conscientious watchdog on human rights issues.
* Stay informed about national/international trends, political-economic issues, and other developments relevant to the campaign.
* Track news and information on campaigns and related news, both locally and globally.
* Understand and use media planning and media analysis techniques to develop media strategies.
* Write press releases, advisories in English/Hindi; edit campaign reports and blogs.
* Develop a network of media contacts (print & electronic media) and interact with journalists regularly (English/Hindi/regional).
* Create and develop opportunities to profile Amnesty International India and its campaigns in the media.
* Plan the logistics for, and organise, press conferences and other media events

– Experience in consultative sales / solution selling, ideally worked with a business consulting firm or an advertising agency

– Is technology savvy and understands how the internet can be harnessed for business solutions, and marketing communications
– Must have an excellent ability to engage with various levels of stakeholders across private sector and public sector enterprises
– Is a stalwart when it comes to making pitches and presenting to an audience
– Ability to research and analyse information, build insightful client presentations
– A track record of exceeding targets and closing large value business deals
– Effective business communication skills – both verbal & written
– Capable of preparing business documentation (credentials, proposals, articulating business cases, etc.)
– Ability to forge trustworthy client relationships

SMART — Seeking Modern Applications for Real Transformation — is a non-profit organization and is running a community radio station in Mewat about 70 kms from New Delhi.

Radio Mewat serves as a communication medium for informing, educating, and creating awareness. It also motivates and stimulates community participation in the process of development. We are looking for a bright, smart communication/radio professional to serve in Mewat and also serve as a team leader of a young team of local reporters and producers. Ideally the individual should be driven with the desire to work in the development sector and in rural areas.  Radio Mewat is the winner of a national award for most sustainable community radio in 2012.

Requirement: Station Manager

Location: Mewat, Haryana (about 40 km from Gurgaon)

Experience: Minimum 2 years (candidates with prior experience in Radio Station preferred)
